Maison Margiela Crafted By Mackintosh | Women SS18

Driven by a constant focus on authenticity and the desire to showcase a unique savoir-faire, Maison Margiela has collaborated with Mackintosh to create two limited edition women’s designs. Introduced during the Maison Margiela “Défilé” Spring - Summer 2018 runway, the classic Mackintosh trench coat is adapted in two colors inspired by Maison Margiela’s ‘Artisanal’ heritage: white and beige.

The white trench is inspired by the iconic white lab coat worn by the Maison Margiela collective. Longer than a standard Mac and designed to echo the appearance of the blouse blanche.The beige short version takes notes from couture toile used in the construction of garments. Both styles also feature other iconic Margiela details including brushed steel eyelets and buttons marked with the letter ‘M’ which completes the silhouette.

The two numbered limited edition coats connect perfectly with the spirit of Maison Margiela’s “Défilé” Spring - Summer 2018 collection, in which gross and ‘authentic’ garments are reconstructed through the new lens of the Maison’s codes to offer the idea of a new glamour.
